“Holy!” Matt cried out. “What in the…”

Sunlight. Antonio pushed upwards and

sunlight streamed in. The manhole went flying.

There was traffic whizzing by. “Careful,” Antonio cautioned, climbing out and dragging Matt with him. They narrowly avoided an oncoming car. He replaced his sunglasses. “That bastard.”

Matt ran after the vampire as he moved quickly down the street. “What? Where are we going?

We’re not going back down there.”

“No, we’re not. I am.”

“I’m going with you,” Matt said.

“Suit yourself. We need to enter by another location. I know where he sleeps.” A few minutes later, Antonio was wrestling off another manhole cover.

He slipped down inside and disappeared

before Matt had even gotten his legs in. Water sloshed around his shoes and he felt a hand on his shoulder, urging him not to move. There was movement. The vampire pushed him away from him, lifted his heavy sword and swung. Matt heard a thud. A body had hit the ground. Water splashed up around him.

“Hurry,” Antonio hissed. He grabbed Matt and started running.

They were chasing someone then Matt heard a noise behind him. “Antonio,” he cried out.

Someone or something grabbed him.
